Meteorological summer (Northern Hemisphere) | Year to date

The last five June-August periods are the five hottest on record.

Fall Temperatures Expected to Trend Cooler in the East
Fall is expected to begin with above-average temperatures dominating the East Coast in September. This would be the second consecutive warmer than average September in the East. A year ago, the Northeast and Southeast regions had their third hottest September on record.
The best chance for a cooler-than-average start to fall is in parts of the northern and central Rockies as well as the adjacent Plains.
