This summer, you may be heading to Maryland’s best waterparks to cool down. But did you know that there are natural swimming holes all around, and even one where you can stand right under a waterfall? If you’re feeling adventurous, outdoorsy, and oh-so hot, head to Kilgore Falls

Kilgore Falls is located within the Rocks State Park in Jarrettsville MD.  Water levels depend on the season and how much rain the area recently received. It’s advisable to go the falls after a heavy rainy period followed by warm to hot weather.

Rocks was one of the first state parks in Maryland created for the expressed purpose of protecting a unique natural feature. In 1949, the State of Maryland purchased the park to preserve the King and Queen Seat, a spectacular 190-foot high rock outcrop overlooking Deer Creek.

Novice climbers are encouraged to seek professional training before attempting to climb the King and Queen Seat. Climbs range from 8 to 115 feet, and are suitable for skill levels 4 to 5.12.

  Jarrettsville is located Northwest of the larger more well known area of BEL AIR MD. The town was named for the Jarrett family, who farmed the area during the 1800s. A historic landmark in Jarrettsville is My Lady’s Manor was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978, and includes portions of Jarrettsville.

The town in Maryland has a population of 3,255. Jarrettsville is in Harford County and is rated the 5th best place to live in the county. The public schools in Jarrettsville are highly rated which makes a great place to move for new families with it’s great schools reasonably priced homes and location close to Baltimore and Southern PA.
